Indian Air force recruitment of Airmen Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’

                      Indian Air force Recruitment board has invited application from bachelor male candidates from India and Nepal for the selection of Airmen in Group ‘X’ – technical and group ‘Y’- Non-technical group for the selection test which will be held on January/February 2017. Candidate can apply online for air force job, can apply either in Group ‘X’ or Group ‘Y’ or on Both groups in a single application.

Group ‘X’  of Indian Air force job include:


 Workshop fitter(Mechanical), Workshop fitter (Smith), Structure fitter , Propulsion fitter , Weapon Fitter , Electrical fitter , Electronic fitter, Mechanical system fitter and Automobile fitter .

Group ‘Y’ of  Indian Air force job include:


Ops Assistant, Ops Assistant (ATS), Environmental support Services Assistant, Communication Technician,  Meteorological assistant, logistics Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Accounts Assistants and Medical Assistants.

Salary as per Indian Air force Recruitment notification:


In Training : 11400
After Training : Group ‘X’ = 26685 (approx) and Group ‘Y’ =23535 (approx)

Education Requirements:

      1)      Group ‘X’- Technical  trade:
a)      Passed 12th or equivalent exam with Maths, Physics, and English with 50% marks. OR
b)      Passed Three years diploma Course in engineering from a government approved polytechnic Institute with 50% marks

     2)      Group ‘Y’- Non-Technical trade :
             Passed 12th or equivalent examination in any streams with 50% marks

     3)      For Group ‘Y’ Medical Assistant Trade:
         Passed 12th or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, And English with 50% marks

     4)      Group ‘X’ and ‘Y’(Both Technical and Non-Technical):
             12th pass or equivalent examination with Maths , Physics and English with 50% marks. Examination will be single sitting( if The Candidate pass in English , Physics and Mathematics, he will be considered pass in group ‘X’ and if he passes in English and general Awareness he will be considered pass in group ‘Y’)
Age Limit:
Candidates born between 07-07-1997 and 20-12-2000 can apply


Selection Procedure for the Airforce job:

Selection procedure will be in done in five steps.

    1)      Written Test
    2)      Adaptability Test
    3)      Physical fitness Test
    4)      Adaptability Test 2
    5)      Medical examination

    1)      Written Test
 Written test will be in objective type and question paper will be in Hindi and English. The candidates will be sent admit cards to their email id by air force recruitment board. Admit card has to be carried to examination hall by the candidates. (Examination will be done in 14 centres, they are: (1) Ambala, (2)New Delhi,(3)Kanpur, (4)Kolkatta,(5)Jodhpur,(6)Mumbai, (7)Bengaluru, (8)Chennai, (9)Bhuvaneshwar, (10)Patna, (11)Guwahati, (12)Secunderabad, (13)Kochi, (14)Bhopal)
a)      Group ‘X’:
Subjects : English Physics and mathematics as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus
Duration: 1 Hour

b)      Group ‘Y’:
Subjects : English- as per CBSE syllabus and Reasoning and General Awareness.
Duration : 45 minutes

c)      Group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’ :
Subjects:  all group ‘X’ and group ‘Y’ subjects mentioned above
Duration: 1 hour 25 minutes
(Adaptability test and physical fitness test is not included for Automobile technician, GTI, IAF(P), IAF(S) and Musician trades)

    2)      Adaptability Test 1 (group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’):
          Those who pass the written test will have to undergo Adaptability test to check the suitability of a candidate for Indian air force job which includes deployed in various geographic terrain  weather and conditions

    3)      Physical fitness Test (group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’):
             Those who successfully complete the adaptability test will have to take the physical fitness test.
1.6 km Run – Should be completed within 7 minutes
10    push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats.

    4)      Adaptability Test 1 (group ‘X’ and Group ‘Y’):
           This is to identify the suitable candidate with requisite comprehension and communication ability.

    5)      Medical Test:
            If the candidate completes all the above steps successfully, he will be called for Medical test . Candidates will get a letter of appointment from IAF recruitment board for the medical examination at selected Medical Board Centre.  Medical Test will be done by Air force medical team as per IAF medical standards.


Applying procedure:
a)    Candidate has to apply online 

            b)      After Applying online the candidate has to take the colour printout of the application.

            c)      There will be two parts in the application, the lower portion will be the address and barcode of the office to which the application has to be sent. Candidates have to cut the below part and paste it in a white envelope and send the above portion of the application in that envelope With the documents mentioned in the official Indian Air Force Job notification.
