1. Kushboo Sundar resigns from Congress
Actor-turned-politician Kushboo Sundar has resigned from Congress. In her letter to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Sundar said, "Few elements seated at a higher level within the party, people who have no connectivity with ground reality or public recognition are dictating terms and people like me who wanted to work for the party are suppressed."
Congress removed her as spokesperson with immediate effect.
2. Kushboo Sundar Joins BJP hours after Quitting Congress
Kushboo Sundar resigned the Congress on Monday - 12.10.2020 and joined BJP hours late in Delhi, on the same day. She joined BJP in the presence of senior party leaders at BJP headquaters in the National Capital, Delhi.
3. Govt employees to get ₹10K as festival advance: LTC cash voucher announced
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on onday 12.10.2020 announced leave travel concession - LTC cash voucher scheme, which she said is the first part of the government's plan to boost consumer spending. All central government employees can now get interest-free advanced of ₹10,000 in the form of prepaid RuPay Card, she said. The amount will be recovered in maximum 10 instalments. The amount to be spent by March 31,2021.
4. Centre has backstabbed farmers: Kejriwal
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Monday 12.10.2020, speaking at AAP's protest at Jantar Mantar against the three new farm bills, said that the central government has "backstabbed farmers". Kejriwal said his party is opposed to the new laws. The protest, organised by AAP's Punjab unit, was attended by minsters from the Kejriwal Cabinet and other party leaders and MLAs from Delhi.
He further suggested MSP should apply to 100% farm produce.
5. Digital Payments grew at 55% CAGR in the last 5 yrs: RBI
Digital payments have grown at a Compunded Annual Growth Rate - CAGR of 55.1% between FY16-FY-20, RBI revealed. The transactions grew from 593.61 crore in the year to March 2016 to 3,434.56 crore in the year to March 2020. In terms of value, they grew from ₹920.38 lakh crore to ₹1,623.05 lakh crore at an annual compounded rate of 15.2%.
6. 2020 Nobel Prize in Economics awarded to Paul Milgrom and Robert Wilson
The 2020 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfers Nobel has been awarded to Paul Milgrom and Rober Wilson "for improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats." They invented new formats for auctioning off many interrelated objects simultaneously, for broad societal benefit rather than maximal revenue," Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said.
Their findings benefitted sellers & buyers at the same time.
7. What is the 'Blue Flag' Certification awarded to Indian beaches?
The 'Blue Flag' certification is awarded by Denmark-based Foundation for Environmental Education based on 33 criteria under four categories. It can be obtained by a beach, marina or systainable boating tourism operator. A 'Blue Flag' beach is an eco-tourism model that aims to give beachgoers clean and hygenic bathing water, safe and healthy environment and sustainable development of the area.

8. Be vigilant after big spike in China plague: Trump to European leaders
US President Donald Trump on Monday urged European leaders to "be strong and vigilant" after a "big spike in the China Plauge - coronavirus in Europe" recently. Trump said that certain news media organistaions would compare America's coronavirus numbers numbers with Europe's to "make the US look bad and also assured that vaccines and cures are coming fast.

9. Climate change led to doubling of natural disasters since 2000: UN
Climate change is largely to blame for a near doubling of natural disasters in the past 20 years, the United Nations said. It reported that 6,681 climate-linked events had been recorded between 2000-2019, up from 3,656 recorded during 1980-1999.
It added that from 2000-2019, 7,348 major disasters had occured that affected 4.2 billion people.
However, we must note that the report did not focus on the biological hazards and disease-linked disasters.
10. Farooq never said Article 370 would be restored with China's help: NC
National Confrence - NC on Monday 12.10.2020 denied that its President Farooq Abdullah said Article 370 would be restored with the help of China and accused BJP of "completely twisting" his remarks."
Article 370 was abrogated in August last year, "Farooq Abdullah articulated people's anger over the abrogation of Article 370 and emphasised that no one in J&K was willing to accept these changes."
