1. Maharashtra Govt Blocks CBI
CBI will have to approach the State Government for the grant of permission to carry out any investigation on a case by case basis as the Maharashtra government has withdrawn the general consent extented to CBI to Probe cases in the state.
Other than Maharashtra even Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal has withdrawn the general consent extented to CBI to Probe cases in their state.
2. Scientists discovered a new organ
The new organ is said to be present in the human throat. Researchers at the Netherlands Cancer Institue discovered a new set of Salivary glands in Human Throrat, while they were studying the prostate cancer and examining a new
combination of CT and PET scans.
About the new Salivary glands: The new Glands, named Tubarial Salivary Glands, are believed to lubricate and moisten the area of throat behind the nose and mouth and is about 3.81 cm in length.
3. Kerala to inaugurate 22 tourism projects
The tourism deparment of the Kerala Governent ia all set to inaugurate 22 new tourism projects in the state. They have listed 120 projects in total which will be inaugurated in the coming months.
AIM: This is an effort from the side of state to boost the socio-economic activity of the state.

Cost of 22 Projects: ₹65 crore.
4. Union Cabinet approves bonus for central govt employees
On October 21.2020,The Union Cabinet approved bonus for the central government employees for the year 2019-2020.
The cabinet was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The bonus will be given before Vijayadashami, in a single installment.
5. MoU between ICAI and CPA approved
On October 21.2020, the Union Cabinet approved the Memorandum of Understanding- MoU between ICAI - Institute of Chartered Accounts of India & CPA PNG - Certified Practicing Account, Papua New Guinea.
AIM OF THE MoU?
i)The MoU is expected to facilitate both the countries to work together in harmony and help them in building and strengthening the Financial, Accounting, and Audit knowledge.
ii)It will also help in building a positive image for the Indian Chartered Accountants.
6. highest ever FDI in April-August 2020
On October 20,2020 the Commerce and Industry Ministry informed that India received the highest-ever Foreign Direct Investment - FDI in April-August 2020.
FDI in India increased by 16% year-on-year to $27.1 billion during April-August. The total inflow of Foreign Direct Investment in India in the first 5 months was $35.73 billion which 13% higher than in the same period last fiscal.
7. Fertiliser Subsidy for the Farmers
The Centre is planning to restrict the number of fertiliser bags that individual farmers can purchase during any cropping season.
At present, the “no denial” policy is being followed by the Centre. Anyone, even the non-farmers can purchase any quantity of fertilisers through the PoS machines. Which in result allows for bulk buying by unintended beneficiaries, who are not genuine or deserving farmers.
8. Narendra Singh Tomar launches AYUSHMAN SAHAKAR
On October 21.2020, Narendra Singh Tomar launched "AYUSHMAN SAHAKAR” a scheme that has been formulated by the National Cooperative Development Corporation - NCDC.
This scheme is a unique way that will assist cooperatives to play an important role in the creation of healthcare infrastructure in the country.

9. Zarina Roshan Khan passes away
TV actress Zarina Roshan Khan passed away on 21.10.2020.
She was a part of the famous television show ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ as Indu Dadi. The actress has also performed in serials like Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and played the role of a mother in several Hindi films. She was always dearly loved by all her co-actors and fans.
