1. Shivraj Singh Chouhan announces free COVID-19 vaccine for all in the State
Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on October 22.2020 that as soon as the vaccine for COVID-19 is ready, it'll be available to every citizen of his state for free.
Who is Shivraj Singh Chouhan?
Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Earlier today, 22.10.2020 Tamil Nadu's CM Edappadi K Palaniswamni announced free COVID-19 vaccination for people of the state which was followed by the BHP's announcement for free VOCID-19 vaccine in its manifesto for Bihar elections.
2. UP Court orders wife to pay ₹1,000 allowance
Uttar Pradesh- A Family court ordered a woman who is a government pernsioner receiving ₹12,000 pension / month to pay ₹1,000 / month to her husbandas maintenance allowance.
The man had filed a petition in 2013 under the Hindu Marriage Act,1955 - seeking maintenance allowance from his wife. They had been living separately for many years.
3. Income Tax raids Congress Office in Bihar
On Thursday, 22.10.2020, The Income Tax Department raided the Congress Bihar's headquater and according to the reports they recovered ₹8.5 lakh from a car parket outside their compound.
However, the income tax department served notice to the party following the raid.
Bihar Congress in-charge Shaktisinh Gohil said "No money recovered within the compound. We will cooperate."
4. Revised Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers
On 22.10.2020 The Goervnment of India has released a new series of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Worker - CPI - IW with a base year revised to 2016 from 2001.
About the New CPI : The aim of the new CPI-IW is to represent the latest consumption pattern of the target population, it is a measure of inflation used to calculate dearness - allowance for government employees, wages for industrial workers and dearness relief for pensioners.
5. Nayini Narsimha Reddy Passed away
On 22.10.2020 - Nayini Narsimha Reddy, Senior TRS leader and the first Home Minister of Telgana passed away at the age of 86.
He was undergoing treatment for the post-COVID-19 complications at a hospital in Hyderabad.
6. West Bengal has a vital role in Purvodaya mission: PM Modi
On Thursday, 22.10.2020 Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the people of West Bengal among the festive vibe of the beginning of Durga Puja. He talked about the mantra of 'Purvodaya' & taking decisions for the development of eastern India, in which West Bengal has to play an imporatnt role as he said "West Bengal wil become the Centre of the East."
Mission Purvodaya: It is a mission launched in 2020 by The Governemnt of India for the accelerated development of eastern India through the establishment of an integrated steel hub in Kolkata, West Bengal.
7. Indian Economy may contract lower in FY21
NITI Aayog's Vice Chairman, Rajiv Kumar on October 22.2020 said that the Indian Economy might end up with a lower contraction in 2020-2021 than projected by various organisations.
He stated " I think this third quarter, we will see smaller contraction that had been forecast and fourth quarter could well be wash."
He also added that the next stimulus should focus on short-gestation infrastructure projects.
8. Govt has set aside ₹50,000 cr to vaccinate the entire country: PM Modi
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi while addressing the Nation said that the indian Government has set aside ₹50,000 crore to vaccinate the entire country against the COVID-19.
The government estimates an all-in cost of about $6-$7 - upto ₹515/ per person for vaccine.
9. Passenger train from Dhaka to Siliguri to start in March 2020
On October 21.2020, Bangladesh Railway Minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujan also informed that the Chilahati-Haldibari line expected to be inaugurated in December 2020 & said that the Passenger train from Dhaka to Silguri is expected to be started from March 26, 2021.
In a statement, Bangladesh Railway Minister also mentioned that the work on the Bangabandhu railway bridge will be starting from November 2020.
t will significantly improve the rail connectivity between the two neighbouring countries.
