1. Dubai to attempt World's Largest Fountain Record
Dubai will launch a new Fountain "The Palm Fountain" on October 22nd in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world's largest fountain.
What is The Palm?
The Palm is five-star hotel in Dubai whihc is considered to be one of the top luxuirous properties all around the world.
The Palm Fountain: The Fountain is said to be spread over 14,000 sq. ft. of seawater and its super shooter will be 105 meters tall and will have as many as 3,000 LED lights installed in the fountain.
It will have 20 shows and each show will last for 3 minutes.
2. Rafale Fighter Jet to take part in Air Force Day Parade on Oct 8
The Rafale fighter Jet will be taking part in the Air Force Day Parade on October 8. Rafale would fly in the 'Vijay' formationalong with the Jaguars, the IAF added.
Total number of Aircraft : With the Rafale there will be a total of 56 aircraft along with 19 Helicopters that would be taking part in the aerial display.
3. Green Delhi App
Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, 05.10.2020 announced the launch of the anti-pollution campaign 'Yudh Pradushan ke Virudh' and said that the Government will launch a photo-based app for complaints related to pollution.
Name & launching of the App:
The app will be named "Green Delhi App" and will be launched for the citizens before the end of this October 2020.
4. Adani Ports completes ₹12,000cr acquisition of Krishnapatnam port
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) on Monday said that it has completed the acquistion of Krishnapatnam Port Company (KPCL) for an enterprise value of ₹12,000 crore. India's largest private port operator now has 75% controlling stake in KPCL.
According to APSEZ - This acquisition will accelerate APSEZ's stride towards 500 MMT (metric million tonnes) by 2025.
The deal to buy The Port was signed on 3rd January 2020.
5. China can't get better of us: IAF Cheif
Addressing a press confrence, Indian Air Force Cheif Marshal RKS Bhadauria on Monday said, "We're very well positioned and there is no question that in any conflict scenario there, China can get better of us."
He also highlighted the importance of a self-reliant India.
6. Maldives becomes the 1st country to launch loyalty programme to reward tourists
Maldives has become the world's first country to offer tourists a loyalty programme wherein they can earn points based on the number of visits and durtaion of stay.
The Maldives Border Miles programme will have three tires, with each tier offering a variety of rewards, services and benefits.
The Programme will be implemented on December 1, 2020
7. Around 40 startups raise Google tax concerns with IT Ministry: Reports
Nearly 40 entrepreneurs presented their concerns over Google's 30% tax to Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Secretary Ajay Sawhney virtually.
Founders of Paytm, Dream11 and upGrad were present.
"The short-term issue" is Google's billing policy.
"The long-term issue" is Google's 95% control of the app ecosystem.
8. BJP Leader shot dead near WB Police Station
A BJP leader named Manish Shukla was shot dead by unidentified assailants near a police station in West Bengal's North 24 parganas on Sunday. Following his death, BJP called for a 12-hour bandh in Barrackpore on Monday.
Who was Manish Shukla and when was he shot?
Manish Shukla is said to be aq close aide of BJP, MP - Arjun Singh and he was shot after returning from a meeting in Havra with other party leaders. The bullet hit Shukla on his chest and forehead.
9. Noida Police files FIR against 500 Congress workers
Gautam Buddha Nagar Police has filed an FIR against over 500 Congress workers including Congress' Gautam Budhha Nagar- Unit President, Manoj Chaudhary and Noida Unit Cheif Shahabuddin, charging them with unlawful assembly at the Delhi- Uttar Pradesh Border on Saturday - when hundreds of Congress workers were on their way to meet the family of the Hathras Victim.
10. Delhi HC notice to Education Ministry on plea to stay JEE Advance results
Delhi HC has issued notices to Ministry of Education and others on a plea to stay declaration of JEE Advance 2020 results. The plea also sought fresh conduct of exam for the petitioner's son who was allegedly harassef for 45mins at the exam centre.
HC refused to stay the declaration of results and listed the matter for October 7.
